Retired Major General Yiftach Ron-Tal, former commander of the ground forces, attacked Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi this morning (Tuesday), claiming that he is "the most unsuccessful in the history of the IDF.".
Everyone will now start talking about “electoral arrangements” reform. What does that mean?
In an interview with Shai Goldstein and Erez Tadmor on Gali Israel radio, Ron-Tal said: "Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, the most unsuccessful in the history of the IDF, has competition with Dan Halutz.".
He criticized Halutz's conduct - and attacked: "We are deteriorating to places that I hope we will find a way out of. It is impossible to describe the damage that Halutz did to the force building with an approach that can be won from the air - and at the same time he crushed the ground army. There is a great competition between these two failures.".
Ron-Tal added: "The current reality in the north is a disgrace, it is an unbearable reality. In my opinion, there is nothing less than humiliation here that almost tramples the remnants of deterrence that we have left, and we must fix it quickly. There is a very strong impact from what is happening in Gaza - on the north.".
According to him, this is a "crazy reality, Hezbollah, in coordination with the Iranians, is establishing a security zone, but it is inside the State of Israel. Anyone who visits the north understands what I am talking about. It is an abandoned and burned war zone. It is not just the 70,000 residents who were evacuated, it is also 150,000 residents who are being tortured every day, all day long.".
