Dozens of women who previously served in the Education Corps and in the Magal formation, which is responsible for general IDF training, have been called up for reserve service in recent days under Emergency Order 8, to serve as guards in military facilities where Hamas Nuhba terrorists are held.
According to a report by Talia Boxbaum and Itai Blument in 'Kan News', some of the military officers who were summoned have only basic training in the use of weapons, have not served in the reserve for many years or at all - and have never worked in prison.
The summons sent to them stated that they must come to a meeting for "significant service," and only when they arrived at the police station did they learn that the task they had been summoned to was to guard terrorists.
At the meeting, it was stated that they would undergo training for a week, after which they would be stationed for a month in the facilities where the terrorists are held - from where they are taken for Shin Bet interrogations.
IDF Spokesperson's Response:
""The national responsibility for the imprisonment of security detainees after interrogation lies with the Israel Prison Service. In light of the large number of enemy detainees and the shortage of prison places in the IPS, organizational and force-building processes were carried out to support the operational needs of the State of Israel.
""Currently, a process is underway to examine the manpower for the mission on the basis of both women and men in 03 rifle training, from the General Staff's manpower reserves for emergencies. These reserves are used to establish reserve frameworks and maximize the potential of those serving in the IDF's diverse missions, especially in times of emergency.".
