The injured man arrived by car at the Samaria Medical Center, where he received medical assistance - after which he was taken to Beilinson Hospital in a conscious state.
The soldier said that the terrorist attacked him while he was opening his car window and stabbed him.
IDF forces launched a manhunt for the terrorist who fled on foot, and set up blockades in the Hawara area.
At the end of a manhunt conducted by IDF and Shin Bet forces in the Samaria Brigade area, Samaria Brigade fighters arrested the terrorist in Awarta.
Dr. Yossi Shaya, Deputy Director of the Beilinson Hospital: "A wounded man from the attack in Samaria arrived at the Beilinson Hospital trauma room. He is a regular IDF soldier in moderate condition and has a stab wound to his upper body. After initial treatment, he is now classified as in mild condition and will remain in the hospital for observation.".
The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, spoke with the commander of the Samaria Brigade, Colonel Shimon Siso, about the circumstances of the attack and the condition of the injured man.
After their conversation, Dagan said: "On behalf of the entire people of Israel, we pray for the healing of the wounded soldier. We always stand together, the entire people of Israel, soldiers and civilians, we all stand against the same enemy and we are all one people. Out of this unity we will win.".
He added: "I call on the Israeli government to order a determined response. This attack ended in a miracle, but one must not rely on miracles. This event could have ended in a completely different outcome, and the expectation is for the government and the senior military command to treat the event as if it had ended differently.".
