In a secret and classified procedure: The Military Defense Office has recruited a number of top attorneys into the reserves - to allow senior officers to consult with them, in order to prepare for the operational investigation into the failures of October 7.

This is with the understanding that the material will be used in the future by the investigative committee - when it is established.

According to a report by Avishai Greenzig in Kan News, among the attorneys who were drafted into the reserves: Ofer Bar Tal, Jacques Chen, Eyal Rozovsky, Yossi Benkel, Dan Eldad, Roy Balcher, Oded Saburai. They are bound by professional confidentiality, and are prohibited from revealing who they represent - and whether they were drafted into the reserves for this mission at all.

The meetings are held at unusual times and places, during the fighting - to prevent the leakage of information regarding which of the officers consulted with a lawyer, and the individuals involved in the consultations in general.

According to the report, there is concern among those familiar with the procedure that the lawyers' participation in the operational investigation will harm it.

The Military Defense Office responded to 'Kan News': "By virtue of its legal role, the Military Defense Office advises IDF personnel and represents them, including before investigative institutions. Naturally, due to professional confidentiality, the Military Defense Office will not be able to comment on the matter.".
