ד"ר ענת מטר, מרצה בכירה בחוג לפילוסופיה באוניברסיטת תל אביב, כתבה אתמול (שני) הספד על המחבל שהיה מעורב בחטיפת ורצח החייל משה תמם הי"ד בשנת 1984.
"עוד אכתוב על וליד דקה, האינטלקטואל, החבר, אציל הנפש, ביתר הרחבה, כשאצליח למצוא מילים", כתבה.
דקה מת ממחלת הסרטן בבית החולים אסף הרופא. ישראל מסרבת לפי שעה לשחרר את גופתו.

לפי דיווח בערוץ 14, המרצה הבכירה באוניברסיטת ת"א החליטה להביע את כאבה על מותו של המחבל, מבלי לציין אף לרגע שהיה מעורב בחטיפה ורצח חסר רחמים של החייל הי"ד.
In a Facebook post, she wrote: "At the end of the terrible road, we prayed that he would be released, at least for reasons of his deteriorating health. In the deal for the release of Gilad Shalit, several Israeli citizen prisoners were released, including Walid's close friends. But not him.".
She continued to describe him as a tragic figure in the story, saying that she was happy that Gilad Shalit was released, again, without mentioning that he himself was involved in the kidnapping and murder of another soldier in 1984.
She ended the post: "Oh how miserable and stupid we are. Oh Walid, Walid.""
Many of her friends who commented on the post also supported and regretted his "tragic death," without mentioning the heinous crime he committed.
אחד המגיבים שהתייחס לפשע, כתב על המחבל בחמלה ויצא נגד בני משפחת תמם שבירכו על ההחלטה שלא לשחרר אותו מוקדם יותר: "שמעתי הבוקר את אחת מקרובות משפחת תמם שניהלה את המאבק נגדו. הסתבר לי שזה היום יום של שמחה עבורה. אין בעיני שום סימפטום להתבהמות שהחברה הישראלית עברה מאשר השידור של השמחה הזאת, אני יכול להבין אולי (תאמת לא) את רגשות הנקם של משפחות שכולות. אבל בשום פנים ואופן לא את העובדה שמשדרים את זה".
Her obituary post was deleted from Facebook after a few hours, but she published another post in which she wrote, alongside photos of him with his family: "Farewell, dear and beloved friend. You were and will be an endless source of inspiration.".
Tel Aviv University stated: "Tel Aviv University condemns and completely condemns Anat Matar's words. This is a private statement outside the academic framework. The matter will be examined later based on the university's policy on freedom of expression.".
