A group of hackers announced a few days ago that they had hacked into the Ministry of Defense's computers and managed to get their hands on sensitive information. The information has so far been published in various Telegram groups, but security sources confirmed to Israel Hayom today (Tuesday) that there was indeed a breach into the ministry's computers.

The attack group announced on Telegram that it had managed to steal information from the Ministry of Defense's computer systems and published a video in which it allegedly shows how it managed to hack into various systems of the ministry - and access the information contained in them.

Among other things, the attackers published a number of documents that supposedly belonged to Ministry of Defense contracts and orders, and offered the complete information for sale on various forums for 50 Bitcoins, which are equivalent to 12.5 million shekels.

Elsewhere, it was claimed that the attackers stole a lot of information, but would not sell it unless Israel agreed to release 500 security prisoners.

The Israeli security establishment refused to comment on the matter, but security sources confirmed that a hack had taken place - without specifying whether the stolen information was indeed sensitive.

Ministry of Defense response: "The incident is known to the Ministry of Defense. The authorized authorities in the Security Branch, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, are examining the incident. These are websites that are accessible to the public. There is no risk to classified infrastructures and systems.".
