The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Wednesday) in the Jerusalem Traffic Court against Moliye Yaheis, 51, from Beersheba, after, as part of his work as a bus driver, he negligently caused the bus to swerve toward passersby - including a mother and her two daughters, who died in the accident.

The indictment, filed through Attorney Adar Erez of the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, indicates that in August 2022, Yahis set off on a trip on bus 402 from Jerusalem Central Bus Station toward the city of Bnei Brak.

During the trip, Yehais stopped the bus at the stop on Shamgar Street, opened the trunk door and let passengers in. After they boarded, he tried to close the trunk door without success. After consulting with Egged's control center, Yehais ordered the bus passengers to get off and wait for the next bus.

At this point, and when the bus was empty of passengers, Yehays decided to reset the bus's electrical system. To do so, he exited the bus without pulling the brake lever, so that the only braking system left working at that moment was the electrical system.

Yehais reset the electrical box, thereby also neutralizing the electric braking system. As a result, the bus began to slide down the street, onto the sidewalk, and continued until it crashed into a bus stop and a fence near the Rav Shefa shopping mall.

As a result of the deterioration, the bus hit a large number of pedestrians, including Shoshana Glostein, 40, and her two daughters, 7-year-old Chaya Glostein and 2-year-old Chana Glostein - who died in the accident.

In addition, 11 additional passersby were injured in the accident to varying degrees, including a 21-year-old woman whose lower limbs were amputated above the knees, and a 6-year-old minor who suffered internal damage, bruises and fractures.

The indictment charges Hayes with three counts of causing death by negligence, as well as multiple counts of causing damage to a person and property.

The prosecution asked the court to revoke Yaheis' public driver's license.
