Tens of thousands of public transportation users in Jerusalem will line up at express hubs for intercity public transportation in Shushan Purim - Monday, the 15th of Adar (25.3.2).

Tens of thousands of people are expected to travel to Jerusalem on Purim's Shoshan Day via intercity public transportation, and in order to prepare for mass service, the Ministry of Transportation, the National Public Transportation Authority, and the operators have organized an unprecedented operation in its scope - centered on express hubs for departures from Jerusalem directly to the destination cities.

Thousands of buses and drivers were recruited for the operation to serve the tens of thousands of passengers.

According to the principles of the plan and based on past experience, exit hubs will be operated near direct exit routes from Jerusalem, which will allow traffic flow with minimal delays and traffic jams.

The hubs were spread out between different routes to prevent excessive congestion. "Although," say the planners, "the hub system, which moves passenger pickup away from city centers, requires additional walking or transfer via municipal transportation service, on the other hand it will allow for faster departure for thousands of passengers, with fewer delays.".

Exit points

Among the centers that will be operating for the first time this year:

Express call center from the Arazim terminal at Ramot Junction, which will serve as an exit point for line 577 to Elad, and for the Sharon and Central lines: 407, 424, 426, 546 and the northern lines to Haifa, Rechsim, Migdal HaEmek, Kiryat Ata, Nof HaGalil 996, 972, 956, 952, 997, 999. For the first time, a train

Another innovation that will be implemented for the first time this year is the use of a supplementary train service from Jerusalem's Navon Station to serve passengers to Modi'in Illit and Bnei Brak.

The train from Jerusalem will reach Modi'in Central Station, and the service will be supplemented by Line 15, which will connect Modi'in Illit to the station with increased frequency. Train service will be increased in both directions to 2 trips per hour, while increasing the number of cars on each train.

Passengers traveling by train to Bnei Brak will also be able to use the train service from Jerusalem to Savidor Station and from there on the reinforced and direct line 53 to Bnei Brak. Line 422 will be canceled. Lines 402 and 401 will also operate on this day.

Direct from the neighborhoods

In addition to the special centers, direct lines from the neighborhoods will also be operated this year, including: 225, 245, 279, 295, 302, 304, 306, 307, 385, 377, 477, 411, 412, 626, 629, 630,

Line 421 is direct from Ramat Shlomo to Bnei Brak with a new hub on Rav Shach Street and line 423 is direct from Ramot to Bnei Brak with a hub at Shivat Zion/Golda station. This will also operate a special and enhanced urban service to the hubs.

As part of the effort to reduce congestion at the exit from the city of Jerusalem during peak hours of crowd dispersal, the bus stop at the exit from the city will be canceled for most lines and passengers are asked to use alternative stops on this day (except for lines 600, 615 to Beit Shemesh and lines 400, 416 only, which will continue to stop at the stop).

It should be noted that there will also be changes in the distribution routes for lines reaching Jerusalem, and press publications should be followed.

It should also be noted that the Jerusalem Light Rail will not operate between the Givat Hathamushet station and the Central Bus Station between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Starting at 5:00 PM, private vehicles will not be allowed to pass through the Shefa Haim area and the entrances to Mount Hotzvim, from Kiryat Hamada Street from the direction of Ramot Junction and from Hartom Street from all directions. There may be additional changes to traffic arrangements. Private vehicle drivers are advised to avoid reaching the area.

The Ministry of Transportation says: "After tens of thousands of people using the public transportation system in Jerusalem are increasing year by year, an effort has been made by all parties to find new, out-of-the-box solutions. This is how the idea of using Israel Railways was born. A solution that has already proven its success in a huge transportation operation held on Lag BaOmer. We hope that this year we will see success in transporting thousands without delays, but," they added, "the public is also required to pay attention, except at roadblocks, to be patient and to obey police instructions.".
