Eli Friedman is one of the most colorful and variegated figures in Hasidic music. Friedman was born in the Kiryat Sanz neighborhood of Jerusalem in a Hasidic home, and studied in Lithuanian yeshivahs.
Friedman, who is closely identified with the yeshiva world, began his musical journey as a young man, and at the age of 20 he composed for Michael Streicher the songs "Yizcheram" and "Vamchalift et Tzamin" - songs that became assets of Zan Barzel. He also composed the melody for Ephraim Mendelssohn's song "Pethah Leno Shaar".
About 17 years ago, he began performing at events and weddings, and gained a name and reputation thanks to his personal, happy, energetic, and captivating style.
So far, Friedman has released four albums - 'Hashamach Balcho', 'Shomeh El Aviyonim', 'Botachim Bek'ev' and 'Al Hastander' - which left their mark and yielded a blessed harvest of hits in a variety of styles.
After a long break from original work in the recording studios, Friedman returns with a new album - his fifth in number: "What Do People Say About Him?".
The album contains twelve new songs composed by Friedman, and is characterized by the familiar and beloved "Friedman" style, which has been so lacking in the musical landscape of recent years. With a variety of different, diverse and original styles, with Jeff Hurwitz entrusted with the task of arranging and producing the music, he harnessed the best musicians in the country.
Friedman hosts the Hasidic singer star Eli Herzlich and Yitzhak Meir on the album for special, moving and captivating duets.
""Asheri HaMelech" is an energetic rhythmic song in which Friedman hosts the star Hasidic singer Eli Herzlich for a special duet, creating a unique musical encounter that delivers a bouncy and sweeping hit that will undoubtedly be one of the hits of 2015.
