Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi yesterday (Friday) gave a "severe reprimand" to Lieutenant General Dan Goldfuss, commander of Division 98 - at the end of the investigation he conducted, following the reprimand speech he gave earlier this week, during which he called on leaders to "be worthy of us.".

Halevi noted that Goldfuss "acted contrary to what is expected of a senior IDF commander" and said that he "used the trust placed in him in a way that harmed the IDF's statehood, and the boundaries between the political and military echelons in a democratic country.".

Alongside the severe reprimand, the IDF spokesman noted in a statement issued after the start of Shabbat, the Chief of Staff told Lieutenant Colonel Goldfuss that he "appreciates his professionalism and deep contribution to the IDF, and certainly during the war in recent months, but this does not allow him to act in the way he acted.".

Goldfuss accepted the comments, admitted that "the way he acted was wrong, contrary to orders, and apologized for it.".

In a speech that caused a storm, Goldfuss addressed the leaders - and said: "We military men have taken responsibility in the past for everything we have done. We bow our heads in the face of the failure on October 7, but at the same time we move forward. But you must be worthy of us, of those warriors who risked their lives. Make sure everyone takes part. You must make sure that we do not return to October 6, and that all the effort was not in vain.

""Keep this in mind every day. Every day and every hour. From the heart of a warrior, I ask you to be united and push the extreme and embrace togetherness and connection. We found it on the battlefield and we do not intend to give it up.".
