Reserve patrol fighters, members of the Histadrut, sent a WhatsApp message to Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar David, asking him to refrain from political statements - and to focus only on issues of worker representation.
When are the municipal elections? Where can I find out if I am registered on the voter register?
The soldiers made it clear to Bar David in a message that they were "fighters in Gaza, the Saja'iya/Al-Bureij sector, most of us members of the Histadrut, we would like to ask you for two important requests, which are not difficult to implement, to help us in the fighting and give the fighters a tailwind.".
And so they wrote:
""We would be happy if you would not speak out on political issues, this causes unnecessary disagreements within the team and unnecessary tension," they wrote. "There is also no consensus on the issue of the hostages. In general, we would be happy if you would speak out only on the issue of employee representation, and not on political matters.".
The fighters added: "We would be happy if, instead of financing a Mazal Tov notice for your dear wife from the Histadrut funds (which we set aside), you could send our wives, who haven't seen us for over a month, a bouquet of flowers or chocolate. It's a more efficient use of the funds.".
""Thank you in advance, Gadsar fighters, reservists and members of the Histadrut.".
Bar David caused a stir after calling at the "Beer Sheva Culture" event for elections to be held this year - and saying that instead of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he would have resigned in light of the October 7 massacre. "Let him take responsibility. We must restart the State of Israel," he exclaimed.
