Major Yair, commander of a sniper team who left the northern Gaza Strip after fighting there for the second time, explains in an interview with Ayla Hasson on 'Kan News' why he and his fighters returned to Gaza, after having already completed their mission.

""I'm an assistant company commander and our brigade left almost a month ago, but I got a call from the brigade commander telling me that one of the battalions in the northern Gaza Strip needed sniper reinforcements. He gave the number of a battalion that my brother happens to serve in, so it was impossible to refuse. I turned to my fighters in the company, who immediately jumped in to help. Some were even angry with me for not calling them.

""We organized the force and went in to assist in the northern Gaza Strip with very significant operations," Yair said. .

He described how the terrorists operate: "Their modus operandi was very, very simple. They go around civilians, look for our forces without weapons, and as soon as they are identified, they go and take weapons from one of the houses and approach us. With the help of observation and air forces, we were able to take them down quickly.".

Major Yair told about one of the events he remembers from the fighting: "Our battalion was in Beit Hanun at the beginning of the fighting. In one of the clashes, we encountered six terrorists and eliminated them all. One of them had a turban - exactly the kind worn by soldiers. For a moment, we feared that it might be a hostage. We quickly recognized that it was a terrorist. In a combat situation, you make an effort and trust the soldier to know how to make the right decision before pulling the trigger and to act quickly enough not to miss the terrorist.".
