He added: "If the IDF wants to deal with what is called building the future generation, it must provide every soldier with education in democratic citizenship, liberal citizenship, citizenship that is compatible with a state in the third millennium.".

According to him, "We need to move to a clear procedure in the IDF, there is no soldier who does not receive education in democracy as part of their service.".

According to him, he also said these things to the Chief of Staff in a private meeting.

The chairman of Religious Zionism, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, responded: "Precisely now, when the members of Religious Zionism are on the front lines fighting with dedication for the homeland out of values and education for Zionism, Judaism, and love of country, we must not allow room for such toxic discourse. No one will re-educate us!""

MK Zvi Sukkot of Religious Zionism responded: "The man spits in the faces of IDF soldiers in the midst of war. Religious Zionist soldiers excel in the army and in battle and of course are not inferior to anyone else in anything. It is unbelievable that this incitement and the terminology of re-education for democracy still exist in Israeli society.".

The "Spirit of the Land," the national-religious headquarters, reported: Major General Yair Golan's words indicate an amazing disconnect from reality. IDF camps are not forced education camps in the service of the left, and those serving in the IDF are not supposed to undergo re-education into various and strange progressive concepts.

The members of religious Zionism who serve in the IDF, whose proportion in combat units is four times (!) their proportion in the population, bear on their shoulders the right and burden of national defense. They were educated from infancy to be involved and dedicated and do not need the "correction" that Yair Golan seeks to impose on them, but can serve as a sign and example of fighting spirit and the desire to defend their people and homeland. They are not the ones who need to be educated.
