The Intelligence and Technical Loot Collection Unit in the Intelligence Branch coordinates the collection and study of Hamas's loot from the beginning of the war and the ground maneuvers.
The unit is composed largely of reservists, and its role is to extract intelligence from the loot captured by all the fighting forces in the field. The unit analyzes and deduces operational implications that improve the activities of the fighting forces in the Gaza Strip.
In this way, the unit assists in extracting intelligence and flowing it back to the operational edge, while at the same time helping to maintain the security of our forces.
Since the beginning of the fighting, thousands of documents and technical loot have been collected by the maneuvering forces, which have been transferred to the exploitation of the complex and contribute critical intelligence.
The maneuvering of IDF forces in Hamas strongholds and the transfer of the loot for in-depth research adds a significant layer to the intelligence images from the tactical to the strategic level and enables intelligence insights that reach back to the operational edge.
The materials are studied according to their type and in partnership with various collection and research bodies in the intelligence community.
For example, in one of the raids, the forces located a map of tunnel shafts in the home of a member of Hamas' Beit Hanoun Battalion. Later, other forces found a map reading in the home of another operative, which could not be deciphered.
Upon arrival of the materials at the complex, the unit created the link between the map and the Bible – thus making it possible to close the circle and destroy the shafts in the field.
At the same time, a Hamas map was analyzed with a shaft marked, which was seized by Division 36 in the home of Maj. Gen. Shagaiyya and Sam Farhat. After initial processing in Unit 9900, a quick closure was carried out with the forces on the ground. The shaft was identified near our forces and neutralized by the engineering forces.
In addition, a paper was seized with the locations of explosives in the Beit Hanoun area. The document states, among other things: "The explosive is located at Anor Alentz's under the olive tree, 21 meters north of the door and 10 meters east of Al-Alaska Street.".
After it was exhausted, the forces operating in the field were directed to the scene - and the charges were neutralized.
