Jonathan Luber, 24, from the village of Yitzhar, a fighter in the 8104th Battalion of the 197th Brigade, cousin of Hillel and Gal Yaniv, who were murdered in Huwara, fell in the fighting in Gaza.
Jonathan grew up in the town of Beit El. He was a rabbi at the Roe Israel Yeshiva in the town of Yitzhar, a youth coordinator in the town in the past, and worked for the Samaria Regional Council as an assistant.
He left behind a pregnant wife, a 10-month-old baby, parents and eight siblings.
Hagai Luber, the bereaved father, director of the 'Especlaria' theater - wrote: "Out of the great strength of the entire Jewish people and out of the understanding of the great hour in which the Jewish people destroy pure evil from the world, alongside deep personal sorrow in the abyss of pain, we announce the fall of our dear and beloved son, Jonathan Luber, the Rev.
""On behalf of the entire Jewish people, we are proud of him and thank him for being a partner in eradicating evil in the world and in destroying our enemies. Our hearts are not for the Holy One, blessed be He, our hearts are not for the government of Israel, our hearts are not for the IDF and the decisions of its commanders in the field. We embrace the entire Jewish people and ask the media and everyone in our people, please, for one day of unity to lift his soul. Please do not write or broadcast anything controversial. Please, speak well, highlight the good in the decision-makers and in our wonderful people that Jonathan was proud to fight for.".
""Please, one day of unity and good talks. Jonathan will be so happy up there. May we have a complete and swift victory and the return of our beloved captives that Jonathan so hoped and prayed would return,",
Two hours before he was killed, his father Hagai wrote about him in a Facebook post: "Look what happens when my grandson sees his father on the phone, after not seeing him for weeks while his father fought in Gaza." He added: "It is not irrelevant to note that my son is a member of the looting and evading religious Zionism (a resident of Yitzhar!) and he has not yet been suspended from fighting in Gaza).".
Before his death, Yonatan the Elder wrote to the youth of Yishuv Yitzhar, whom he had previously guided: "We are still here training, now on Shabbat is the time to breathe Torah, to grasp what God wants from me. I am so happy for you for volunteering. I feel sorry for you, I'm sure you miss me." And he added: "Pray for me.".
The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, paid tribute to him: "Yonatan was a pride of the settlement crops in Samaria, who died a heroic death defending the people of Israel and the State of Israel. He was a volunteer, a member of a distinguished family from Beit El, and was just beginning his young life with his wife and father in Yitzhar. My heart breaks thinking about the young family. They were just beginning their lives. For the son who will not know his father. The Samaria Regional Council will embrace the dear Luber family and assist them in every way possible.".
Head of the Beit El Local Council, Shai Alon: "Residents of Beit El mourn the fall of the warrior Elisha Jonathan Luber in battle in the Gaza Strip. Jonathan grew up in Beit El, the son of Hagai and Tahya Luber, and one of 8 brothers, two of whom are currently fighting in Gaza. Jonathan lived in Yitzhar with his pregnant wife and son and went into the reserves the moment he was called to stand for faith and loyalty.
""Our hearts are heavy with the loss of his family, the one who learned the bitter news. 'Let the nations rejoice with him, for the blood of his servants will be avenged, and he will avenge his enemies, and redeem his land with him.'".
""We will continue to struggle and fight so that the goals of the war are fully achieved. The fall of Jonathan the Fourth will not be in vain, and only a crushing, complete and clear victory will reassure us. The best of our sons give their lives for the people and the country, and we must be worthy of them, of their sacrifice.".
