Revital Moshe-Mills, the niece of 72-year-old Adina Moshe, who was kidnapped from her home in Nir Oz, spoke this morning (Monday) on the "Sheva Teshaa" program hosted by Udi Segal and Anat Davidov on 103FM - and described the ongoing nightmare her aunt has endured in Hamas captivity, since she was kidnapped on Simchat Torah.
On that black Sabbath, Hamas terrorists broke into her home in Nir Oz, shot and killed her husband, Saeed, and kidnapped her deep into the Gaza Strip. Moshe was released on Friday at the first opportunity, after 49 days in captivity, along with 12 other women and children.
""They are in stable condition, maybe physically you can see that they have lost a lot of weight, they were held in difficult conditions, they went through trauma. They thought that within 3-4 days they would be released. It felt like a long time to them, there is also no sense of day and night when you are in the dark. They need time to recover. They don't know all the destruction and devastation, everything we went through and saw on October 7.".
Regarding the footage in which she was seen walking to the Red Cross and waving her hand at the Hamas terrorist, her niece said: "I saw her weak and scared and I thought maybe they thought they were being executed. She looked really terrified, but then I saw that movement and said, 'That's gentle, she's okay.' Her spirit was there. I'm sure she held her own and that she survived it for everyone else. You can see from everyone there that these are strong people, with great mental resilience.".
She later shared her aunt's feelings during captivity: "They didn't know how many days had passed. It felt like a long time to them. She even asked, 'Why did it take so long?' I think that what will mainly accompany them in the coming days is the anger at the abandonment of the citizens. They didn't think it would happen, we didn't think it would happen either. They were sleeping in the houses, they chose to live there and settle the Negev, and they felt abandoned that day. We all asked, 'What's going on?' They only arrived at the kibbutz at 3:00 PM, and the terrorists had already murdered, looted, and kidnapped. This is a very difficult part.".
Revital added that her aunt "was kidnapped around 10 a.m. She is slowly discovering the destruction and devastation that Hamas terrorists left in the entire kibbutz, their entire community is 1 in 4, so when they ask, 'What about him? What about him?' - she discovers that they are not with us and they were murdered. She is very sad about the death of her husband. They were a loving couple - and their lives were cut short.".
When she was kidnapped, did she know that her husband Said Moshe had been murdered?
""Yes. He was injured, she treated him. They managed to break the window, pulled her out, and then she heard two shots and realized it. At that time, she was in survival mode, and now the mourning begins. Ours too. Now that she's here, a difficult struggle awaits.".
The sentence we remember her saying to the terrorist, 'Release another woman in my place, older and in a less good situation.' How much does this characterize Adina?
""Absolutely. The movement with the hand too. I have no doubt that's true. She's also someone who worked in education her whole life, I'm sure she led the entire company there. She had compassion for a person older than her.".
Was there food?
""We all saw, she lost a lot of weight. You can see she's emaciated. They didn't have much food. Not at all.".
Was there any time dimension?
""No. The sense of time has been lost.".
Did they tell her everything?
""The instructions are to tell gradually, what they ask, then answer. In the coming days she will know everything. It's such a big ruin there. There's no kibbutz, their house is completely burned down. Her house is completely burned down. We went in there after the tombstone was discovered, we tried to take a few things from the house, there was nothing to take. There were all kinds of things hanging in the yard, plates or a ladle hanging on the wall, so we took from there. That's all we took, from an entire house, from an entire life, a few burned things that were hanging in the yard.".
