Led by Deputy Minister of Haredi Development Uri Maklev, this week the National Public Transportation Authority began a major push to improve service in the city of Safed. As part of the push, new lines were added, the routes of existing lines were changed and will become more efficient and tailored to the needs of residents. In addition, the frequency of the lines was increased and the operating hours of the city's public transportation lines were extended. This change provides improved service from the city's neighborhoods to a variety of central locations in the city, such as Ziv Hospital, shopping centers, the central station, the city center, the industrial zone, and more. This is an addition of twenty thousand kilometers of service to public transportation in the city. According to the plans, which were budgeted and planned even before the war and are currently being implemented as part of the annual planning, three new lines were launched - line 15 to Ziv Hospital in the city, line 16 to the industrial zone, and line 17 from Merom Canaan to Keren Hayesod, which will travel in a minibus so that it can pass through many stations. At the same time, lines 1, 9, 4, 12 and line 22 to the city's central bus station will be strengthened. Lines 23 to the Galilee and 6 to Ziv Hospital in the city will also be strengthened. Deputy Minister of Haredi Development Uri Maklev said that this step complements the improvement of service in the city. "About six months ago, we began the step of improving service on intercity lines in Safed, and now we are completing it with a step on the urban lines that will provide a connection to important points of interest, alongside a fleet of 17 additional modern buses for the benefit of passengers. We will continue to be attentive to the public and work to improve service at all times.".
