Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent a letter today (Friday) to "fighters, soldiers, all the precious security forces, emissaries of the people and the state," who are taking part in the war and fighting bravely against Hamas terrorists.
""The foundation of the existence of the Jewish people for thousands of years is the constant struggle for our lives and freedom. We have always fought bitter enemies who rose up against us to destroy us. Armed with fortitude and the righteousness of the path, we stood resolutely against those who seek our lives. The current struggle against the murderers of Hamas is another chapter in the story of national resistance for generations. 'Remember what Amalek did to you.'.
""We constantly remember the sights of the horrific massacre on Shabbat Simchat Torah, October 7, 2023. Before our eyes stand our murdered, wounded, kidnapped, fallen IDF and security forces brothers and sisters.
""In their name and for their sake, we embarked on a campaign, the purpose of which is to destroy the cruel and murderous enemy Hamas-ISIS, return our hostages, and restore security to our country, our citizens, and our children. This is the war of the sons of light against the sons of darkness. We will not relent in our mission until the light overcomes the darkness – good will defeat the extreme evil that threatens us and the entire world," he wrote.
Netanyahu conveyed a message to the fighters: "Dear IDF soldiers and security forces fighters, wherever you are - on land, in the air and at sea, in the assembly areas and deep in the field, in the intelligence, armament, logistics and medical systems - new pages in Israel's history are being written by you. Your courage, your devotion to the cause and your courage are immensely inspiring.".
""You are all descendants of the chain of heroes who did not flinch or retreat - Joshua ben Nun, the prophetess Deborah, King David, Judah Maccabee, Bar Kochba, Joseph Trumpeldor, the underground fighters, the IDF and the security forces. They held the sword of protection for the sake of the eternal life of Israel, and you are walking in their footsteps.".
