This afternoon (Thursday), in a combined operation by police and Border Guard soldiers at the hospital, 12 suspects who were staying in Israel illegally were exposed, captured, and arrested.
Of these, 11 are residents of the Gaza Strip who are suspected of having been in the hospital with us over the past few weeks in violation of the law.
Another suspect, a Palestinian from Judea and Samaria, was in Israel illegally.
When the police entered the hospital, they noticed a woman matching the description of one of the suspects, who tried to escape towards a room inside the hospital's emergency department without success.
In the room, the police discovered 8 residents of the Gaza Strip - 7 of whom were women. One of the suspects is the sister of an operative in the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization.
Following the activity, near the hospital cafeteria, a container was found that had been converted into a makeshift bedroom, and inside were 4 illegal residents, 3 of whom were men from the Gaza Strip.
All of the arrested suspects were taken for questioning at the Shalem police station in the Jerusalem District. It should be emphasized that the arrested suspects were not hospitalized at the time of their arrest.
As a result, the hospital's deputy director was summoned for questioning at the police station, on suspicion of illegally harboring illegal residents from Gaza and the West Bank. .
The police note that this is a serious case in which a hospital in Israel provides protection to Gaza residents who are staying in Israel illegally and are hiding there, while taking advantage of the fact that police forces naturally do not operate within its walls as usual.
