The question of conscripting girls into the army has become a sharp polemic in recent months, with even the chief rabbis stopping the ban and becoming a target for attacks. But if you ask the Chief of Staff's advisor on women's affairs, Brigadier General Rachel Tevet-Wiesel - this is the place for matchmaking.

Brigadier General Tevet-Wiesel, who lives in Shoham, is a religious woman who enlisted in the IDF "different from today's army," as she puts it. In a holiday interview with Ynet, she calls on the rabbis: "Come see what's happening with us," to dispel the fears, "and I hope they will come.".

""Today there are thousands of religious girls in the IDF in compulsory and permanent service," she says, clarifying that this is the mainstream of the sector, the "best of our girls." "You see women in headscarves and long skirts. In the Intelligence Corps, there is a real 'swarm' of religious soldiers. That's where most of the matchmaking comes from today.".

According to Brigadier General Tevet-Wiesel, even ultra-Orthodox women are currently serving in technological positions in the IDF ("A small group, in increasing numbers, I would like to see more"), and she supports reducing the exemption from service for any girl who declares that she is religious.
