The holiday season is always a busy season, but today a record is expected to be broken at Ben Gurion Airport: no less than 521 planes will pass through the airport today, with 263 planes are expected to land during the day, and 258 flights will take off from it.
It is expected that approximately 70,000 passengers will pass through Ben Gurion Airport.
The heavy traffic is mainly caused by the tens of thousands of worshippers returning from the Zion in Uman. The passengers, estimated at about 20,000, left for Ukraine on the eve of the holiday on about 100 planes, and most of them are expected to return to Israel today.
Due to the expected congestion, the Airports Authority recommends that passengers arrive at Ben Gurion Airport four hours before departure, and to check in advance for updated takeoff and landing times.
By the end of the Tishrei holiday season, over 1.4 million passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion Airport.
And what are the leading destinations for Israelis? Greece, Italy, the United States, Germany, Russia and France.
