The person killed in the shooting attack on Seder Night near the Tarqumiya checkpoint was Deputy Chief of Staff Baruch Mizrahi from Modi'in.
The late Baruch Mizrahi, 47 years old at the time of his death, was married to Hadas and had five children. Over the years, he held a number of positions in the security forces, and for the past three years, he headed the technology section in the SIGINT unit - which is the intelligence division of the police's investigations division.
Due to the fact that this was a religious family, the announcement to the family members was delayed until after the holiday. It was not until the afternoon that the widow was released from the hospital, so she could travel to Kiryat Arba and tell their five children about their father's death.
He worked his entire life in the service of the state and for the security of the state and its citizens. He served in the IDF for 25 years. Throughout his service in the IDF, both as a regular soldier and as a permanent army officer, he performed a variety of operational and technological roles, the last of which was as a lieutenant colonel in Intelligence Unit 8200.
In June 2011, he was recruited from the IDF to the Israel Police as a deputy superintendent, as stated, to the position of head of the technologies section in the SIGINT unit in the Intelligence Division, Investigations and Intelligence Division.
The late Baruch was a significant partner in designing the SIGINT department and building the human resources system in the field of operational technology in the Israel Police. He discreetly and secretly made a significant contribution to the Israel Police's fight against serious and organized crime and cybercrime.
Beyond his official duties, the late Baruch led many projects in his field of expertise, left his mark on a very wide variety of processes, and made a valuable contribution to the Israel Police and the citizens of the State of Israel.
His commander, the head of the SIGINT department, Lieutenant Colonel Y., said: "This is a loss first and foremost to his family and a great personal and professional loss to the members of the unit and brigade, to the Israel Police and to the State of Israel. This is a man who, beyond being a first-rate professional, was a true friend, volunteered for every mission with dedication and faith, was a listening ear to his subordinates, colleagues and commanders, and his presence was very much felt. The late Baruch devoted his entire life to his two great loves - his family and the State of Israel.".
The late Lt. Col. Baruch Mizrahi will be laid to rest tomorrow at 1:00 PM at the police station at the Mount Herzl Military Cemetery.
