About a month after hackers broke into the computers of the Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center in Bnei Brak, last night (Wednesday) they announced that they had published some of the information they stole.

The Ragnar Locker group claimed in its Telegram group that it had released the first part of the information it had stolen from the hospital, 402 gigabytes in volume, after the hospital refused to pay the ransom they demanded. The group also claimed that the rest of the information would be published in the coming days.

After the hack, the group threatened that if it was not paid tens of millions of shekels, it would publish all the information it had managed to steal, which it said included personal information and medical materials on patients, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, members of Knesset, rabbis, Torah scholars and well-known figures in the Haredi public.

The Haredi sector fears that publishing the information is expected to lead to serious harm to ordinary families as well.

It should be noted that, according to Israeli law, it is prohibited to publish any leaked scientific information.

The Ministry of Health said this morning: "We remind you that there is a publication ban order. Please refrain from publications that violate it.".

The hospital, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the National Cyber Directorate, and law enforcement agencies, is continuing to investigate the attack. The hospital has returned to full operation while hardening its computer systems.

""In light of the blanket publication ban, it is not possible at this stage to address the details of the investigation or the issue of publishing the information. We trust the relevant authorities and enforcement agencies to do their job faithfully. In accordance with the developments in the investigation and subject to the provisions of the court order, the hospital will operate a dedicated telephone hotline for the benefit of patients.".
