Three people were shot this evening (Monday) near the police station in the city of Tira: Dr. Kashua Abd al-Ruhman, the 60-year-old director general of the municipality, was initially critically injured and was taken to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, but there they had to declare him dead.

Dr. Al-Ruhman, who was also a sheikh at the mosque, is one of the senior figures in the Southern Islamic Movement.

A 60-year-old city council member and a 58-year-old sheikh were also moderately injured in the incident. They were evacuated to Meir Hospital with penetrating injuries.

The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The police said: "Operational searches are underway upon receipt of a report of a shooting incident in the city, following which three men arrived injured at the station in their vehicle independently and were evacuated to the medical center. The police are working to locate the perpetrators of the crime and the shooting scene, along with collecting documentation and forensic findings from the victims' vehicle.".

Central District Commander, Superintendent Avi Biton, held a special situation assessment in which officers from the Intelligence and Investigations Division reviewed the findings on the ground as well as the investigative actions required in the future. He emphasized at the end that the investigation is the top priority for the district given the severity of the incident, in which a public official in a government institution was murdered - and therefore instructed the Chief of Police to conduct the investigation, alongside intensifying the operational deployment in the city for the sake of public safety.

152 people have been murdered in Arab society since the beginning of the year, due to, among other things, conflicts between criminal organizations, blood feuds, and domestic violence.
