Yesterday, at the Mishkenot Neria synagogue in Elad, a memorial plaque was installed on the seat of one of the three kidnapped boys - Eyal Yifrach.
The Gilead, made of copper and designed in a square shape, was installed on the chair on which Eyal sat and prayed, until he was kidnapped by the sons of wickedness.
The synagogue's gabbai told Haredim 10: "On the Friday after the kidnapping, people, friends and children came here - and left optimistic notes, hoping for Eyal's safe return. Over the course of the days, they left notes, bouquets of flowers, and little children left candy here that they received at the synagogue.".
""Over time, the place in the heart of the synagogue became a lonely island of commemoration, which did not match the atmosphere of the synagogue.".
In consultation with Eyal's father, it was decided to build something that would express Eyal, but would not change the fabric of the synagogue.
The people of Kibbutz Lavi, who built the furniture, arrived at the scene and offered the solution - in the form of a copper plaque, to be placed on the back of the chair with a verse in his memory, his name and details.
The plaque was installed yesterday morning, with Eyal's father and brother present. "A decision was made that this place would not be sold again in these terrible days - and would wait for it until the coming of the righteous savior," says the gabbai.
