Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the shooting attack near Hebron, in which a 47-year-old police officer was killed yesterday and his wife and another nine-year-old child were injured, shortly before the start of Passover.

""This heinous murder of a man who traveled with his family to a Independence Day dinner is the result of incitement for which the Palestinian Authority is responsible," Netanyahu said.

Defense Minister Moshe Bogy Ya'alon said: "We will not rest or be silent until we lay our hands on whoever planned and carried out this attack." He noted that IDF forces, the Border Guard, and the General Security Service are continuing to hunt for the terrorist and his handlers. Ya'alon sent his condolences to the family of the police officer who was killed in the shooting, and wished a full recovery to the injured.

Security forces are still conducting a manhunt to locate those responsible for the attack.

The attack occurred when a terrorist opened fire on Israeli vehicles near the Tarqumiya checkpoint, in the southern Hebron area. The father of the family, a police officer, was seriously injured and died from his wounds after resuscitation attempts by MDA teams. His wife, who was heavily pregnant, was moderately injured.

A child in another vehicle was slightly injured. The two were treated at the scene and evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem for further treatment.
