A video filmed about three years ago, in which Ehud Barak appears talking about civil disobedience, is causing a stir in the political system.

The Likud party responded today (Friday) to the comments, saying that Barak "has been working for years to collapse society.".

In the video, filmed for "Forum 555," Barak says: "A criminally accused person cannot serve as prime minister of Israel. In Israel, this is an attempted coup under the auspices of the coronavirus.".

He added: "The leadership is corrupt, with an experienced and talented person at its head, but who has lost all restraint and inhibitions in his attempt to escape the threat of justice.".

Later, the former prime minister also spoke about a governmental revolution that Netanyahu plans to implement: "His main concern today is completing the governmental revolution, confessing to the murder of the Knesset and subordinating the legislative branch to the executive branch" - and finally claimed that a civil rebellion is something that could happen in response to Netanyahu's moves.

Barak also said in the video: "We need to find a way to talk to the Russians and the Mizrahi. Democracy is a better dividing line. Support for democracy also penetrates deeply into the right.".

Barak also proposed several principles on which Netanyahu's opponents should unite, including a principle that presents the Declaration of Independence as the de facto constitution of the State of Israel.

When asked if he intends to run against Netanyahu again in the future, as he did in 1999, Barak replied: "I do not suffer from excessive modesty. If Bibi disappears tomorrow and there is a fear of deterioration against Hezbollah and the continuation of the economic crisis, then I am objectively more and more suitable than any other person in the country to take the helm.".

""A historian friend once told me - Ehud, they will call you when bodies float in the Yarkon River, the bodies of Jews who were killed by Jews will float.".

The Likud attacked sharply: "Now the proof of what we knew all along has been revealed - Ehud Barak worked for years to plan and promote a plan aimed at collapsing Israeli society through refusal, civil disobedience, and pitting groups in Israeli society against each other - all in order to return to the position of Prime Minister from which he was ousted by the citizens of Israel.".

Knesset members in the coalition shared the video and claimed that the protest events taking place in recent months are the result of a plan conceived by Barak.

Minister of Publicity Galit Distel Atbarian tweeted: "I assume many of you have already been exposed to this video: Ehud Barak three years ago detailing his master plan in front of a camera.

""When Ehud Barak shared this plan, there was no reform, Yariv Levin was not Minister of Justice, Rotman was a fairly anonymous guy, Ben Gvir was not in the government, and the reason for the reasonableness was not up for a vote in the Knesset.".

MK Boaz Bismuth harshly attacked Ehud Barak and accused him of being no less dangerous than Nasrallah.

""These people here are dear to me. I will come out here as a firm accuser! I blame one person in the country for bringing us to this situation," Bismuth began his remarks at the 'Shabbat Tarbut' event in Ramat Aviv.

""I'll say something serious today, there's Hassan Nasrallah, he's no less dangerous than him - his name is Ehud Barak! Look at the situation he's brought us to. Did you hear what he said on the 555 forum? All of this was planned. A man who talks about bodies floating in the Yarkon, about civil disobedience, there's wild incitement in the country today.".
