Murder on Ibn Gabirol Street in Ashdod: In a violent incident that included stabbings, the late Shalom Biton, 49, was murdered this evening (Thursday). The deceased is the nephew of Ashdod Mayor Yechiel Lasri.
At approximately 6:23 PM, police were called to Ibn Gabirol Street, following a report of a violent incident, during which the late Biton was stabbed. He was taken to Assuta Hospital in serious condition, with a penetrating wound, but unfortunately, doctors had no choice but to declare him dead.
Police officers who arrived immediately at the scene located a 57-year-old owner of a nearby grocery store, who is suspected of stabbing the deceased. He was arrested and taken in for questioning on suspicion of murder. His partner, in her 30s, was also arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting an investigation.

An initial investigation by police investigators suggests that the background to the shocking murder was an argument that broke out between the suspect and Biton in the store.
Deputy Commander of the Lachish Region, Lt. Col. Eliyahu Shmul, arrived at the scene of the murder and conducted a situation assessment with the region and station command. In the meantime, he decided to assign the investigation to the Lachish Regional Commander.
""The injured man was lying on the sidewalk, unconscious and suffering from a penetrating wound to his body," said MDA emergency medical personnel Adiel Azulai and Eliyahu Cohen. "We provided him with life-saving medical treatment, which included stopping the bleeding and administering medication. We quickly put him in an intensive care unit and evacuated him to the hospital, in serious condition.".
