Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Shin Bet head Ronen Bar, and Police Commissioner-General Kobi Shabtai condemn the violent attacks by far-right activists in Palestinian villages in Judea and Samaria.
""In recent days, violent attacks by Israeli citizens against innocent Palestinians have been carried out in the West Bank and Judea and Samaria. These attacks go against every moral and Jewish value and are also nationalist terrorism in every sense, and we are committed to fighting them.".
""The security forces are operating against those rioters, risking the lives of IDF soldiers, Israel Police officers, and General Security Service employees.".
""This violence increases Palestinian terrorism, harms the State of Israel, and the international legitimacy of the security forces to combat Palestinian terrorism, and diverts the security forces from their central mission against Palestinian terrorism. The IDF, the General Security Service, and the Israel Police are committed to continuing to act with determination and with all the means at our disposal to maintain security and the rule of law in Judea and Samaria.".
They added: "The IDF will divert and increase forces to prevent events of this type in Judea and Samaria, and the Shin Bet will expand arrests, including administrative arrests, against rioters who act violently and extremistly within Palestinian villages. We also call on leaders in localities, educators and public figures to publicly condemn these acts of violence and join in the fight against them.".
On Saturday, it was reported that dozens of far-right activists clashed with Palestinians near the village of Umm Safa north of Ramallah, throwing stones and receiving stones from the Palestinians.
IDF forces arrived at the scene and one of the soldiers was slightly injured by the stones. A few minutes later, dozens entered the village and burned at least two houses. They also set fire to two vehicles and a truck belonging to Palestinians.
According to the Palestinians, ten houses and seven vehicles were set on fire in riots in the village.
The IDF reported that an Israeli citizen was detained by the forces and transferred to the police for further treatment.
""The IDF will continue to act resolutely to stop any use of violence and destruction of property," the IDF spokesman said. "We condemn incidents of nationalistic crime of this type.".
