4 sheets of filo dough, thawed according to the instructions on the package.
Filo dough contains no fat and does not absorb oil, so it is a healthier option.
3 green apples, peeled and cut into small cubes. If you don't like them, you can substitute red apples, which are sweeter, or even pears.
2 tablespoons unheated coconut oil
3-4 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons squeezed lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1-2 tablespoons cilantro
Powdered sugar for decoration
Filling:
1. Heat a wide pan and when it is hot, add the coconut oil.
2. Add the apples and heat in a pan for about 10 minutes, until they soften.
3. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch, lemon juice, and brown sugar. Add the mixture to the apples in the pan and stir for a few minutes.
4. Add the cinnamon and mix well.
5. Cool the mixture.
Preparing the filo dough:
1. Place the filo sheets on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, so that they partially cover each other.
2. Brush the top of the leaves with a tablespoon of coconut oil. If you wish, you can brush with melted butter.
3. Place the apple filling, which has cooled in the meantime, in the wide part of the leaves.
Make sure that there are edges without filling, so that the leaves can be closed around the filling.
4. Press the filling and roll the filo sheets around it to form a rectangle.
5. Brush the strudel with silane.
6. Place in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 18-20 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown.
7. Refrigerate when ready.
8. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
