Baruch Dayan, the truth teller:

In Bnei Brak, Rabbi Azriel Bergman zt"l passed away suddenly today (Thursday), at the age of 70, the beloved son of the member of the "Council" of "Degel", Rosh Yeshiva Germach Bergman - and the beloved grandson of Maran Germach Shach zt"l, who was a pure and righteous soul and was blessed to have the godfather in his covenant be the author of "Ha'Chazon Ish" ZIA.

The late zt"l, who was born to his father, the Rosh Ha-Yeshiva, and his mother, Mrs. Deborah, daughter of Rabbi Shach zt"l, enjoyed a special closeness with his rabbis at the Ponevezh Yeshiva, headed by the Mashgih, Rabbi Levinstein zt"a - and he always used to quote from the moral rebukes uttered by the Mashgih.

He also enjoyed closeness with many of the great men of Israel. Rabbi Azriel had a special connection with the Kabbalist, Rabbi Saria Deviletsky, who entertained him with Torah and Halacha. He also developed Torah connections with the gaon Rabbi Binyamin Zilber, author of "Az Nedviru.".

The head of the yeshiva, Maran HaGir"G Edelstein, would greet him and inquire about his well-being whenever he met him on Rab"d Street.

His friends say that the image of the Vilna Gaon was always before him, as an example of how far a mortal can reach and ascend in the service and fear of God, as the first and the angels.

With his passing, a figure of Torah laborer who never ceased to speak of his teachings throughout his life and who was wonderful in his qualities and fearlessness was uprooted.

The news of his passing came as his father, 93-year-old Major General Bergman, began his recovery journey, taking off last night for the United States, four years after his previous journey.

He received the bitter news of his son's death after landing in the US this morning (New York time).

On the recommendation of his personal doctor, the Rosh Yeshiva will not return to his home in Bnei Brak for the time being - and he has begun sitting 'sheva' in Lakewood.

The Grand Magistrate justifies the judgment against him and bursts into tears with the blessing "Baruch Dayan Ha'amat" and tears "Tear""

The Rosh Yeshiva guided the funeral and burial arrangements from his lodge in Lakewood, where Rabbi Malchiel Kotler, Rosh Yeshiva of Lakewood, arrived to visit and comfort the mourners.

The Grand Master then tore a 'tear' in the lapel of his robe as he justified the judgment against him with the blessing 'Dayan Ha'amat', which was said in tears.

A member of the "Council" set out on the reinforcement journey at the request of the Lakewood Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Kotler. At the center of the journey, the Rosh Yeshiva was supposed to carry the main burden as the guest of honor at the "Adirei HaTorah" gathering of the Lakewood Beit Midrash High Yeshiva, this coming Sunday.

The funeral procession will leave tonight at 10:30 PM from his father's seminary at Yeshiva Rashbi on Heshalah Street in Bnei Brak, towards the Elad Cemetery - where he will be buried.

The deceased, the second son of the yeshiva head, left behind seven brothers and a sister.
