Minister of Information, Galit Distel Etberian of the Likud, defended this evening (Monday) the budget that is expected to be approved for the Haredi sector in the state budget.
""At the end of the day, if we clear out the background noise, the annual budget that will reach the Haredi sector is 2.8 billion shekels per year," the minister said.
She mentioned the day of the farm strike, two months ago, against the legal reform and noted that it cost almost the same amount: "Remember the farm strike that came because of the protest against the reform? Well, that day of the strike cost the taxpayer 2.5 billion NIS.".
She emphasized: "One day of protest is worth almost as much as an annual budget for an entire sector. Proportions.".
According to a report on the Ynet website on the day of the strike, the cost of the major strike to the Israeli economy will be approximately 2.5 billion shekels. However, the damage is expected to be much greater if additional strike days are declared and they are full, since the strike that day only began around 11 a.m. and was not yet full.
