Doron Ginzburg, an El Al pilot who attacked legal reform and the government on a flight to New York on Holocaust Remembrance Day, was suspended from his position and reprimanded by his managers following the incident.
Ginzburg, 63, who has worked for El Al for many years, will return to service after the apology and continue to serve as captain of the company.
News 13 reported that after the incident, the captain flew to New York for an informal meeting with the company's owners, where he introduced himself and explained why he made the announcement on the plane.
As you may recall, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, upon the completion of boarding flight number 007 to New York, the captain was heard saying in an announcement: "Things like Holocaust Remembrance Day can potentially happen in dictatorships, and we are fighting for Israel to remain a democratic state.".
The pilot spoke in Hebrew and English. The captain linked the historical events to the protest against legal reform - which caused a stir among the flight's passengers and the public.
