Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva opened the eyes of Elia Domanovich, the father of the family who was injured in the fatal traffic accident on Highway 40 in the Negev on Independence Day - in which the late 10-month-old toddler Maayan Domanovich was killed - this evening (Thursday) and began to communicate with his surroundings.

Elia is out of danger and will soon be transferred to the orthopedic department for further treatment of the spinal and limb injuries he is dealing with.

Ayla, Elia's wife, who was moderately injured in the accident, informed her husband of the tragedy, in the presence of close family members, the medical team, and a social worker from Soroka.

Their 8-year-old son Uri, who was seriously injured in the accident, also woke up and is out of danger.

In a video filmed in the intensive care unit, Elia and Aila asked to thank the people of Israel for their embrace and support during their difficult time.

""Dear people of Israel, thank God, this week I woke up and was happy to discover the huge embrace I received from you in prayers, in the breaking of the bread, in good deeds, in the study of Torah. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, I am truly moved by this," he said to Eliya.

""Many thanks, of course, to the medical team at Soroka Hospital, who gave their heart and soul and managed to get me out of the situation I was in. Now we want to embark on a new path, gather in our home, begin rehabilitation.".

The late Maayan Domanovich was laid to rest last Friday at the cemetery in Kfar Etzion, while his parents are still hospitalized.
