It was announced this morning (Wednesday) that in a joint operation, IDF and Marine Corps fighters, under the intelligence guidance of the Shin Bet, operated last night in the city of Nablus in the Samaria Brigade, and within a few minutes arrested the suspect in yesterday's shooting attack in which two Israeli civilians were injured.
A joint statement from the Israeli security forces stated that the terrorist linked himself to the incident during the initial interrogation, and that there were no casualties among our forces. The suspect, a minor and resident of the village of Askar in Nablus, was transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning.
Commissioner Kobi Shabtai praised the activity of the Border Patrol soldiers: "The rapid activity already at the scene, while combining the arms, which has proven time and time again to be a winner between the Israel Police, the Border Guard, the General Security Service and the IDF, led to the rapid arrest of the terrorist who carried out yesterday's shooting attack in the Shimon HaTzadik neighborhood in Jerusalem. From the first moment that police forces from the Jerusalem District and Border Patrol soldiers were dispatched to the scene of the attack, we deployed many forces and, together with accurate intelligence, we were able to get our hands on the terrorist.".
""Every terrorist should know that the long arm of the security system will reach wherever he flees and wherever he hides. I would like to take this opportunity to commend the police forces and the Border Guard in Jerusalem who thwarted 8 terrorist attacks during Ramadan. The war on terror is a daily and cross-district war, and we as the police are doing and will do everything to thwart any terrorist organization and any intention to harm civilians and security forces. Now, together with the Shin Bet and the IDF, we are focused on capturing the terrorists who carried out the attack in which Lucy Rina and Maya Di, the late from the Efrat community, were murdered, and as I promised the father of the family yesterday, we will not turn a blind eye until the terrorists are captured.".
