Minister of Construction and Housing Yitzhak Goldknopf, Chairman of the Jewish Agency Maj. Gen. (res.) Doron Almog, Chairman of Amigur, a subsidiary of the Jewish Agency, Moshe Asheri, and Holocaust survivor Nathan Goldman laid wreaths today (Tuesday) in memory of those murdered in the Holocaust at the "Shaked" senior citizen home in Kfar Saba.

Minister Goldknopf, the chairman of the Jewish Agency, and the chairman of Amigur lit memorial candles in memory of the murdered.

Afterwards, they participated in a ceremony in memory of those murdered in the Holocaust together with the residents of Amigur's "Shaked" senior citizen home at the monument in memory of Alexander (Sasha) Pechersky, who was an officer in the Red Army and leader of the uprising in the Sobibor extermination camp.

The minister read Psalms and said Kaddish in memory of the six million saints who were killed for the sake of God, together with the chairman of the Jewish Agency and the chairman of Amigur.

After the ceremony, the minister, the chairman of the agency, and the chairman of Amigur visited the home of Holocaust survivors, Nathan and Juliet Goldman. Nathan shared his personal story with those present.

Nathan, who grew up in Antwerp, Belgium, managed to escape the concentration camp where his mother was held, with the help of a Gentile neighbor, who managed to convince the Nazis that he was her son, and thus managed to stay alive. During the war, Godelman hid in a monastery in Belg.

After the war, Goldman was able to reunite with his grandparents and married Juliet. The two started a family in Israel and work for Holocaust remembrance.

Minister Goldknopf: "Goldman's story is the story of the Jewish people. Even after he was persecuted and his family was murdered, Goldman came to Israel and built a family and a home. We must as a society unite and remember our past. It is our duty as a society to protect the elderly and ensure that they live with the dignity they deserve.".

Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Maj. Gen. (res.) Doron Almog: "The moving story of the Holocaust survivors - Nathan and Juliet Goldman, is a story full of inspiration, love and faith. The love of a person that gave Nathan enormous strength to survive the horrors of war and the great love between him and Juliet, who together raised a glorious family - is the true victory. The pictures of their children and grandchildren hanging on the wall are a reminder of the triumph of the spirit, of the victory of the Jewish people over Nazi Germany. I thank the Minister of Construction and Housing, MK Yitzhak Goldknopf for the visit, Moshe Achirai, Chairman of Amigur, and Erez Shani, CEO of Amigur, for the moving meeting and the blessed work.".

Amigur Chairman Moshe Ashiri: "We thank Minister Goldknopf and the Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Maj. Gen. (res.) Doron Almog, who honored the residents and us with their presence. The meeting with the residents and the recitation of the Kaddish in memory of the murdered, along with the call for unity among the people, moved us all. Amigur sees a right and a moral obligation to continue to care for the well-being of Holocaust survivors in the 55 senior citizen homes that the company manages across the country. With the help of the Israeli government and the Jewish Agency, we will continue to build additional housing solutions to provide a response and shelter for the elderly in need.".
