Transportation Minister Miri Regev is furious following comments made today (Tuesday) by an El Al airline captain against legal reform during a flight to New York.
According to a senior official at the Ministry of Transportation, Minister Miri Regev is angry with El Al, saying that the pilots behave as if they are the owners of the house time and time again.
The minister spoke with the company's management and expects the company to act accordingly and respect its status as a national company.

""Maybe the flight paths are clear, but the company's direction is probably being lost. This reality cannot continue, something bad is happening there," said Regev.
Before the El Al flight, the captain was heard saying in an announcement, linking the historical events to the protest against the legal reform: "Things like Holocaust Remembrance Day can potentially happen in dictatorships, and we are fighting for Israel to remain a democratic state.".
The pilot said these words at the end of the boarding process at Ben Gurion Airport, and before the departure of flight number 007 to New York, which took off from Ben Gurion Airport at 10:50. He said these words in Hebrew and English.
News 12 commentator Amit Segal attacks the captain's conduct: "To announce to the passengers, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, when you know for sure that many of them do not believe as you do, just because you can - this is the clearest expression of the true perception of the aforementioned pilot, that his opinion is more valuable, and only it deserves to be heard. El Al responded: "El Al condemns political statements of any kind by any of its employees in the course of their work, and certainly not on its planes, which cannot serve as a platform for this type of activity.".
