On the eve of the holiday, the three Jewish families entered their homes in the 'Beit Hashalom' building in Hebron, after the Supreme Court finally confirmed that the sale process was complete.
As you may recall, about two weeks ago, Defense Minister Moshe Bogy Ya'alon approved the permit for the deal on the complex, subject to the decision made Monday morning by the High Court of Justice.
From the morning hours of the holiday eve, the families, the owners of the apartments, waited for approval from Colonel Avi Balut, so that he could approve their actual entry into the apartments. The approval was received shortly before the holiday began.
The event was attended by many public figures, including Rabbi Dov Lior and Moshe Levinger, Council Chairman Malachi Levinger, MK Orit Struk, spokesman for the Jewish settlement in Hebron Noam Arnon, and other public figures.
The High Court's decision was made after the families filed a petition with the Supreme Court last Wednesday to approve the completion of the transaction. This was after the thirty days in which the buyers were required to complete the balance of the amount deposited in trust with the court's approval were about to end, but the Arab seller was not found and did not arrive to receive his money.
As mentioned, the Supreme Court announced that it accepted the request and ruled that by depositing the funds in the court's treasury, the buyers fulfilled their contractual obligation, and the saga that accompanied the house for about a decade finally ended.
The head of the Kiryat Arba Hebron council, Malachi Levinger, welcomed the completion of the proceedings and the families entering their homes, noting that: "On Passover Eve, the circle closes and new families enter to live in a new neighborhood in the City of the Ancestral Home.".
Levinger added: "We hope that this entry will be a key to continued ownership and building in Kiryat Arba-Hebron and throughout the country. The court's decision and the families' entry into the house constitute a victory against those who act against Jewish settlement, and the court proved this with its courageous, appropriate and just decision.".
Shlomo Levinger, one of the Beit Hashalom families, added: "This week, on Wednesday and Thursday of the Passover holiday, hundreds of families are expected to participate in a mass event at Beit Hashalom. We have returned home, and everyone is invited to come to the house during the holiday and celebrate the holiday of freedom, and in the coming days, additional families will move in to live in their new home.".
