""I want to say that I am very sorry for the behavior of the Governor of the Bank of Israel. As soon as he went on CNN and made prophecies of fury about the Israeli economy, he sabotaged it.
""Economics is more psychology, when you come and say 'there will be darkness here on the face of the abyss' if the reform passes, certainly if you say it on foreign networks - you are creating a picture of the future. The forecast you make is the forecast you create. Here too, these warnings need to be said firmly in closed meetings.".
""I think the governor is wrong, the governor is sabotaging the Israeli economy," he added, "his move is more political than economic. He serves the elites and not the citizens of Israel. There is an economic elite and a security elite here who worked together to thwart the reform.".
After the interview, the minister clarified on his Twitter account: "I said that the Bank of Israel Governor's predictions of anger regarding the legal reform, and in particular his decision to discuss them on foreign networks, are creating a Pygmalion effect that is de facto sabotaging the Israeli economy. I did not express any criticism regarding his professional decisions regarding raising the interest rate.".
