Senior United Torah Judaism officials are furious with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, due to a series of violations he has committed, they claim, of promises signed with the party in the coalition agreement.
According to a report by Michael Shemesh in Kan News, party officials conveyed a message to Netanyahu that if the agreements are not honored, United Torah Judaism will not vote on the severance law, which is expected to be presented to the Knesset plenum tomorrow for a preliminary reading.
Earlier today, Finance Committee Chairman Moshe Gafni and Deputy Minister Uri Maklev had a very tense conversation with the Prime Minister, during which they complained to him that they were excluded from some of the budget discussions, were not part of the agreements, and that the promises made to them regarding education and infrastructure in the Haredi sector were not honored.
In addition, they presented Netanyahu with a demand for a budget increase for Haredi education - in addition to that already given, as well as a budget for public transportation in the Haredi sector.
During the meeting, the two made it clear to Netanyahu that if he did not honor the coalition agreements, he would not have a government.
Netanyahu, for his part, spent the entire evening trying to calm things down, promising to respond in the next 24 hours.
