Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, explains today (Monday) why in his opinion the right must not compromise on legal reform.
In a post published by Netanyahu Jr., he wrote: "The right must not blink in this struggle!".
""If the left loses: Israel will return to being a true democracy, as it was before Aharon Barak's constitutional coup in the 1990s. The left will have to get used to the fact that their vote at the ballot box will not be worth more than the vote of right-wing citizens. They will have to accept that they, as a minority, will no longer be able to impose their will on the majority. They will have to accept that if they lose the election, they will not continue to rule the country through the High Court of Justice. In short - they will have to accept that they are citizens with equal rights like everyone else, and not superior.".
He warned: "On the other hand, if the right loses - the legal-bureaucratic dictatorship will be established forever, right-wing Israeli citizens will not be entitled to the most basic human and civil rights, and their children and grandchildren will be paved from birth to be the woodcutters and water carriers of the left-wing aristocracy.".
