Former Minister of Religious Services, MK Matan Kahane, responded this afternoon (Monday) to MK Avigdor Lieberman's remarks against the ultra-Orthodox public and Torah study - during the joint statement of the heads of the opposition factions.
""Knesset Liberman, the world exists thanks to the study of Torah," said Kahane. "Scholars whose Torah and art are critical to the people of Israel. Rabbinical courts, beyond being a public necessity, are also a symbol of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel.".
""Therefore, with God's help, there will forever be scholars whose Torah is their art, as well as rabbinical courts.".
The Yisrael Beiteinu chairman detailed in a statement he delivered three components of what he claimed was the "plan to weaken the judicial system.".
He claims, "The third component, which in my opinion is the most dramatic: the Torah Study Law and rabbinical courts, which effectively create a parallel religious legal system.".
He declared: "In the next government, we will not accept his teachings or his art - not even one.".
