Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister, Gali Baharav Mayara, informed National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir today (Tuesday) that the discussion on the police ordinance cannot continue, claiming that the law, which was divided, should be passed in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation and not in the special committee.

Following the advisor's announcement, the discussion in the Police Ordinance Committee will be postponed.
The discussion that was postponed following the Attorney General's announcement was supposed to prepare the parts that were split from the amendment to the Police Ordinance - sections that state that the Commissioner is subordinate to the minister, and that the minister can intervene in the policy regarding the length of time for handling cases.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said in response: "Once again, the legal advisor to the government is harming the work of the government and the Knesset and is acting as if she is running the Israeli government.
""The Legal Advisor to the Prime Minister had known about the hearing for several days and also held a preliminary meeting yesterday evening, but waited until the last minute - half an hour before the hearing, to delay it for another week.
""This is outrageous behavior by someone who repeatedly thinks that she is running the Israeli government, and not advising it.".
