National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir arrived last night (Thursday) for his first visit to the Prison Service, accompanied by Prison Service Commissioner Rav Gondar Kati Perry and the senior command staff of the Prison Service.

Ben Gvir visited the new wings that were built in the past year for security prisoners and that have security features that will make it difficult for them to escape, with the wings being adapted to the High Court of Justice's decision regarding living space.

Minister Ben Gvir arrived at the scene to ensure that the conditions of the security prisoners would not be improved.

The Prison Service presented Minister Ben-Gvir with the new conditions, with each cell housing six prisoners in three bunk beds. In addition, the entire cell floor is concreted and an Israeli flag is permanently flown at the entrance to each wing.

During the tour, the minister met with the senior command staff in the Southern District, headed by the District Commander Gonder Hezi Markovich, and met with the prison guards at Nafha Prison under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Begon and thanked them for their dedication to the security of the state.

Minister of National Security Ben Gvir: "I arrived at Nafha Prison last night to make sure that murderers of Jews are not receiving better conditions following the construction of new cells, and I was happy to see that the Prison Service does not intend to improve their conditions of imprisonment. I will continue to address the conditions of imprisonment of security prisoners, so that they do not have preferential rights.".

Prison Commissioner Rav Gondar Kati Perry: "I mentioned to the minister the appreciation of the IPS employees - the guards and wardens, for seeing fit to visit the prison service immediately upon taking office. The minister's support for the multi-year plan to strengthen the prison service is a tailwind for the national prison organization and its employees.".
