Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Bank of Israel Governor Dr. Karnit Flug met this morning (Tuesday) ahead of the launch of the new 50-shekel banknote.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the beginning of the meeting: "In order for this banknote to maintain its value, we need to maintain both security and the economy, both pillars. I greatly appreciate the seriousness and professionalism of you and the people of the Bank of Israel in maintaining the stability of the Israeli economy.".

""This is one of our two tasks. One - we will have to increase the defense budget because of the crisis, and on the other hand, we must maintain the economy, and these things come together in a deficit that we can control, and that will not collapse us. And this will be our policy and this is how we will act, together.".
