Shalom Sofer, a resident of Petah Tikva who was moderately to seriously injured in a stabbing attack about two weeks ago in the village of Pondok in Samaria - has died from his wounds. His funeral will be held today (Tuesday) at 1:00 PM at the Segula Cemetery in Petah Tikva. Sofer, a grocery store owner in the settlement of Kedumim, was stabbed by a terrorist when he entered a store in the Arab village with his son. The terrorist attacked him with a knife and stabbed him several times in the stomach. He was treated by rescue forces and taken to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer. IDF forces arrested the terrorist. Shalom Sofer was released a few days ago - and after his condition worsened, he passed away. Lidor, his son, paid tribute in a conversation with News 12: "Dad was a great man of kindness and a very strong person. Unfortunately, he is another victim of this daily war, of the insecurity of walking the streets of Israel. I wish he would be the last, I wish. "Dad returned home like every day on Route 55, a very busy route, unfortunately, in recent months. Not a day goes by without casualties, not a day goes by without stone throwing, and unfortunately also with fatalities. Near his vehicle, a terrorist jumped on him and stabbed him in the back, Dad turned to him and then he stabbed him in the stomach as well. He was taken to the hospital in moderate to serious condition, where they say they stabilized his condition, and after a few days he was released home, claiming that everything was fine and that he needed rest at home. "Yesterday, a week and a half after he was released, suddenly in one moment his whole body collapsed. Our feelings are very difficult, incomprehensible, Dad was strong this time too, as always, and it was probably stronger than he was. He had already managed to fight the terrorist, fight him off and take the knife from him - we didn't think it would end like this." The head of the Kedumim Council, Hananel Dorni, issued a statement saying: "Shocked and pained by the passing of Shalom Sofer Ya'd, who was murdered by a man of injustice. Shalom was a kind, upright and pleasant-mannered man. "It is the duty of the new government to cancel all the statements and actions of the previous government that gave hope to terrorism and to stop all thoughts and talk about concessions to the Palestinian Authority. I expect my friends in the new government to change the equation and embark on a determined fight against terrorism in tandem with a boom in construction and settlement development. Only in this way can the hope of terrorism be cut off." Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg wrote on Facebook: "This morning we learned with great sadness of the passing of the late Shalom Sofer, a resident of the city, who fought for his life for the past two weeks after being stabbed by a terrorist, a son of injustice, near the settlement of Kedumim. The late Sofer, who operated a grocery store in the settlement of Kedumim, was a man loved by his acquaintances and a man of giving and kindness. "On behalf of the residents of the city, I would like to share in the heavy sorrow of the family and acquaintances. Unfortunately, there are no words that can describe the magnitude of the loss. The municipality will accompany the family and assist them in whatever is required. Unfortunately, in recent times, terrorism has raised its head again and I would like to strengthen the hands of IDF soldiers and members of the security establishment in their activities for the safety of Israeli citizens. May his memory be blessed." MK Bezalel Smotrich wrote: "I am not writing this painful tweet with the difficult news we received this morning as a politician, but as a friend who was privileged to know in recent years a special man with a huge heart who will be greatly missed by his family, all residents of Kedumim, and many, many more people. Peace be upon the scribe. May his memory be blessed.".
