Yom Kippur Eve 5883: Tens of thousands arrived tonight (Monday) for the central selihot ceremony at the Western Wall Plaza - starting in the early evening hours, and packed the Western Wall Plaza, the balconies and the surrounding alleys.

The event was attended by the Chief Rabbis of Israel, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and the Holy Places, the Mayor of Jerusalem, rabbis, public figures, and a large audience.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation stated that this is the peak of the period of mercy and forgiveness, which took place as part of 14 central ceremonies that took place throughout the month of Elul and the Ten Days of Repentance, accompanied by a cantor and a singer. This is to relieve the burden and allow the entire public to travel to Jerusalem and join in the ceremonies throughout the entire period.
