Diaspora Minister Nachman Shai participated this afternoon (Wednesday) as a guest of honor at the opening ceremony of a new wing at Chabad educational institutions in Berlin - designed to expand the educational campus. Change of address? Here you will find out if your details are already updated in the voter register. The educational institutions were established nearly twenty years ago, and 350 children are educated there. In recent months, the complex has been renovated and expanded to accommodate over sixty refugee children from Ukraine who arrived in Germany at the outbreak of the war. As part of the expansion, a new kindergarten was established. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, over 400 people, including a group of orphans, have been taken in by Chabad institutions in Berlin. Due to the shortage of space, the Rabbi of Berlin, Rabbi Yehuda Teichtel, decided to expand the kindergarten complex - which was inaugurated today, in the presence of the Minister of Diaspora, and in the presence of a large number of local media outlets that covered the celebration extensively. "By virtue of my role as Minister of Diaspora, I place a lot of emphasis on the situation of refugees," said the Minister of Diaspora, "I am happy to come here and see all the children acclimatizing so beautifully." Rabbi Teichtel noted the activities of Chabad emissaries both in Berlin and in other places around the world, who are working hard for the refugees. Rabbi Teichtel spoke about the Jewish closing of the circle. "Once Jews fled from here and today Jewish refugees come here. And this is our Jewish answer, from Berlin: We have an educational future here, educational institutions, a vibrant Jewish life." [Gallery]
