After not shaking President Biden's hand because she was 'keeping a distance,' singer Yuval Dayan speaks for the first time, in an interview she gave to Channel 12, about the difficult week she had, the supportive reactions alongside the brutal criticism she received.
According to her, the process of repenting about two years ago also began to protect her from the pressures and exposure of her as a successful singer.
She said that when President Biden reached out to shake her hand, after she appeared before him at the White House, she did not feel the conflict between her two values: the value of maintaining contact, versus the value of not publicly shaming him.
According to her, on the contrary, she felt when she bowed to him that he was even more moved by the gesture.
In retrospect, would you have shaken the president's hand? asks interviewer Jonathan Rieger.
"No," Dayan said decisively.
She said: "We contacted the American ambassador. He called me and spoke to me in English, and I asked him, 'Tell me, did you feel something wrong on stage?' I told him, 'Listen, I'm going through something difficult here, and I need you to help me. I need you to clarify firsthand with the president – if I hurt his feelings, even a little bit.'".
The full interview will be broadcast on 'Weekend News'.
