In a joint operation by the General Security Service in cooperation with the IDF and the Israel Police, an infrastructure of military terrorist operatives from the Nablus area was exposed and thwarted in recent months.
As part of an operation to solve shooting attacks in the area of Joseph's Tomb in Nablus, during the month of May, Alam al-Ra'i - 42 years old, a resident of Nablus, a Tanzim military terrorist - was arrested.
As part of the Shin Bet investigation, it emerged that Alam was recruited by a resident of the Gaza Strip, Muhammad Madi, to carry out military terrorist activity in Judea and Samaria, and recruited additional operatives as members of his cell to carry out military terrorist activity against Israeli targets. He also received terrorist funds to promote this activity.
The investigation revealed that during April of this year, Alam was involved in authorizing two shooting attacks in the Joseph Tomb complex and the Nablus area. As part of the investigation, evidence was also collected regarding Alam's involvement in a military Tanzim squad that carried out several attacks against IDF forces in Nablus between 2005-2007.
Meanwhile, it emerged that he took part in the squad that was responsible for carrying out an IDF bomb attack against an IDF force operating in the Kasbah in Nablus on July 17, 2006, during which Sergeant Osher Damari was killed and several other soldiers were wounded.
The Shin Bet investigation also revealed that Alam participated, along with other terrorists, in dozens of incidents of shooting at IDF forces, and in planting remotely detonated explosive devices against security forces, combined with shooting at the forces after the devices were detonated, in a manner that resulted in the injury of soldiers.
The investigation was closely monitored from the beginning by the Military Prosecution. After examining the investigation material, the Military Prosecution will file a serious indictment against Alam today, accusing him of a large number of serious security offenses, chief among them the murder of soldier Osher Damri.
